The Irish have been celebrating St. Patrick's Day for over 1000 years! Celebrated on March 17, it is a day where families would go to church in the morning and then enjoy an afternoon party with food such as bacon & cabbage sandwiches or other dishes that include ingredients from Ireland like potatoes. Perhaps the most well-known legend of St.Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Spirit) using the three leaves of the native Irish clover, the shamrock.
Today, people of all backgrounds celebrate St.Patrick's Day, especially throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.
